IN CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Flatonia Independent School District offers career and technology education Programs in Cosmetology, Floral Design, Home Making Economics, Computer Applications and Agricultural.  Admission to these programs is based on interest, aptitude, age appropriateness, and class space available.

It is the policy of the Flatonia Independent School District not to discriminate on Basis of race, color, national origin, sex or handicap in its vocational programs, services or activities as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.

It is the policy of the Flatonia Independent School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, handicap, or age in its employment practices as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as amended; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.

Notice of School Board Meeting - Government Code, §551.056(a)-(b) and Agenda for School Board Meeting - Government Code, §551.056(a)-(b)

Requires the posting of a meeting notice on the district's website, if a website is maintained.  Also, requires the agenda to be concurrently posted with the meeting notice on the website if the school district maintains a website and contains all or part of the area within the corporate boundaries of a municipality with a population of 48,000 or more.  See School Board  Agendas and Minutes on the District's website.


School Board's Employment Policy - Government Code, §21.204(d)

Requires the posting of the employment policies on the website, if a website is maintained. See Employment Policy


Conflict Disclosure Statements and Questionaires- Local Government Code, §176.009 (a), as admended by HB 1491 80th Legislature, Regular Session.  Also See Local Government Code, Chapter 176.03

Bill of Rights for Property Owners - Government Code, §402.031 HB 1495 80th Legislature, Regular Session

Requires a school district to make available, if technologically feasible, on its Internet website a landowner's bill of rights prepared by the Attorney General. Property code, §21.0112(b)(2)


Electricity, Water, and Natural Gas Costs- Government Code, §2264.001(b) as amended by HB 3693 80th Legislature, Regular Session

This bill requires the positng of the metered amounts of electircity, water, and gas consumption for which the district is requrie to pay and the aggregrate amounts of those services.  See Utility Costs on the District's Website


Maintenance and Operations Tax Rate- Tax Code, §26.05(b)

This code requires a school district to post on its websie a statement that indicates that it adopted a tax rate that will raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year's tax rate.


Immunization Awareness - Education Code, §38.019, as amended by HB 1059, 80th Legislature

This bill requires school districts with website capabilities to post information relating to immunizations exceptions, required and suggested immunizations for school age children, information on health clinics offering vaccines and links to the DSHS website. Information should be available in English and Spanish. The Texas State Department of Health Services has immunization requirements for schools in English and Spanish at Texas Department of State and Health Serviceshttp://www.dshs.state.tx.us/immunize/school/default.shtm


College Credit Programs - Education Code, §28.010(b), as amended by SB 282, 80th Legislature

Requires school districts to notify the parent(s) and/or guardian(s) of all students in grades 9 – 12 of the availability of programs under which they may earn college credit, including Advanced Placement programs, International Baccalaureate programs, dual credit programs, and joint high school and college credit programs. The notification may be provided on the district’s Internet website and must include the name and contact information of any public or private entity offering such a program.


Testing for Home Schooled Students - Education Code, §29.916(c), as amended by HB 1844, 80th Legislature

A school district is required to post on an Internet website maintained by the district the date the PSAT/NMSQT will be administered and the date any college advanced placement tests will be administered. The notice must state that the PSAT/NMSQT or the advanced placement test is available for home-schooled students eligible to attend school in the district and describe the procedures for a home-schooled student to register for the test.


Physcial Activity- Education Code, §28.004(k)

The legislation adds an emphasis on proper nutrition and exercise to the health curriculum required for kindergarten through grade 12 in Education Code Sec. 28.004. A school district shall publish in the student handbook and post on the district's Internet website, a statement of the policies adopted to ensure that elementary school, middle school, and junior high school students engage in at least 30 minutes per school day or 135 minutes per school week of physical activity; and a statement of: the number of times during the preceding year the district's school health advisory council has met; whether the district has adopted and enforces policies to ensure that district campuses comply with agency vending machine and food service guidelines for restricting student access to vending machines; and whether the district has adopted and enforces policies and procedures that describe penalties for the use of tabacco products by students and others on school campuses or at school-sponsored or school-related events.  Also See School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) on the District's website


Superintendent Contract

Starting in calendar year 2007, the school district is to provide a copy of the superintendent's contract EITHER as a disclosure in the financial management report provided to attendees at the Schools FIRST hearing OR by posting the contract on the district's Internet site.


Bullying Reporting Procedure - Education Code, §37.0832(e), as amended by HB 1942, 84th Legislature

Requires a school district to post on its website, to the extent practicable, the procedure for reporting bullying.  See Policy

Vacancy Postings- Education Code, §11.1513(d)(1)(B), as amended by SB 300, 81st Legislature

School districts must implement the new requirements regarding posting notice of vacancies for which a license or certificate is required under Section 21.003. The district must provide such notice by posting the position on a bulletin board at a place convenient to the public in the district's central administrative office, a bulletin board at the central administrative office of each campus in the district during any time the office is open, and the district's Internet website, if any.  See Employment Opportunities on the District's Website.
