TSI:

The TSI Assessment is designed to determine if students are college ready in Math, Reading, and Writing. Please click here for information about the test. Some students may be exempt from taking the test, as they have already met the criteria for “college ready.” Click here for more information on exemptions.

The TSI is offered by Blinn-Schulenburg several times a year. Please click here for more information and to contact them regarding testing dates.

2018 – 2019 SCHOLARSHIPS

 

Due January 18, 2019:

Fayette Electric Cooperative Government-in-Action Youth Tour Do you know an outstanding or deserving teenager who would enjoy and benefit from a fun and educational trip to Washington, D.C.? Fayette Electric will send two students on the 2019 Youth Tour, all expenses paid, set for June 12-21, 2019. Applications are due January 18, 2019. Visit www.fayette.coop/youth-tour to apply!
 

Texas Engineering Foundation Scholarship (Click here to access) – This scholarship is for graduating seniors who plan to enroll in an accredited engineering program, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and meet SAT/ACT requirements. Important! Please note: The Greater Houston chapter does NOT require part 6, the individual interview. Be sure to include all items noted in the checklist, including SAT/ACT scores. Texas Student Housing Application (Click here to access) – This scholarship is for students accepted to colleges in Austin, College Station and Denton who have not signed off campus housing leases.

 

Due February 1, 2019:

Best Little Cowboy Gathering – Please use the general scholarship application and include a transcript and two letters of recommendation. Application must be received by February 1, 2019!  Completed materials should be mailed directly to Mary L. Voss, 2937 Bridge Valley Drive, La Grange, Texas 78945.  Winner must be able to work two 8 hour shifts the weekend of March 8th and 9th at the Best Little Cowboy Gathering.

Sarah and Alex Hernandez Scholarship (Click here to access) – Please read all of the application information closely.  Due to the counselor’s office by 12pm on February 1, 2019.

Texas Medical Association O’Malley Scholarship Application (Click here to access) – This scholarship is for outstanding rural high school seniors interested in becoming a physician.

Due February 4, 2019:

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship (Click here to access) – This scholarship is a two part process, beginning with an online application. Once the online portion has been submitted, supplemental documents will be emailed.

 

Due February 8, 2019:

Association for Compensatory Educators of Texas (Click here to access student letter and here for application) – ACET offers twenty scholarships annually to graduating high school students. The tuition scholarships are for $1,000 and are payable directly to the college, university, or other post-secondary institution of the student's choice.  Student applicants must provide documented proof of participation in a compensatory education program sometime during their school career.  The definition of compensatory programs is a program that provides remedial assistance and support for students who have failed TAKS or at-risk of dropping out of school.  Additional programs include programs for migrant, Title I, Bilingual/ESL, pregnant or parenting students and homeless students.

 

Due February 15, 2019:

Texas Exes Fayette County Scholarship (Click here to access) – The Texas Exes Fayette County Chapter awards scholarships to incoming freshmen based upon need and accomplishment. Students can apply even if they have not yet been admitted to the University of Texas at Austin. Click here for the Texas Exes Fayette County letter.

 

Due February 21, 2019:

Live Mas Scholarship (Click here to access) – No essays, no test scores, no right or wrong answers. They’re looking for the next generation of innovators, creators and dreamers who want to make a difference in the world.

 

Due February 23, 2019:

Capital Farm Credit Scholarship (Click here to access) – Scholarship must be received (not postmarked) by the 23rd. Please see application for all required documentation.

 

Due March 1, 2019:

Catholic Life Insurance (Click here to access) – Students must be a member of Catholic Life Insurance and enter a college, university or trade school in fall of 2019. Selections will be based on scholastic achievement, demonstration of leadership qualities and community service. Applications supporting materials must be mailed and received no later than March 1, 2019!

Flatonia Chamber of Commerce Czhilispiel Scholarship (Click here to access) – Czhilispiel court members do NOT need to apply, but all other workers need to complete the application. Please note – the application is due by March 1, 2019 at 12 p.m. to the counselor’s office.

Vietnam Veterans Scholarship (Click here to access) – THIS APPLICATION IS DUE TO THE COUNSELORS OFFICE BY NOON ON MARCH 1st, NOT 4PM AS STATED ON THE APPLICATION.

Project Yellow Light Scholarship (Click here to see more info) – Opportunity for students to design a TV, radio or billboard message to help prevent distracted driving.  $5000 scholarship prize.  

TXDOT Conditional Grant Program (Click here to access) – Available to eligible students pursuing a degree in civil engineering or a department-approved operational business discipline.  The Conditional Grant Program will consider both Texas public and private four-year institutions.

 

Due March 15, 2019:

Navidad Valley CattleWomen Scholarship (Click here to access the application and rules) – Scholarship awarded will be based on scholastic achievement, leadership in agriculture, financial need, and the ability to contribute to agriculture in the future. Please read all details and postmark requirements.

Texas Builders Foundation Scholarship (Click here to access) – Applicants must pursue a building trade certification, construction science, management, engineering or related degree. See website for more details.

 

Due March 18, 2019:

The Down Syndrome Foundation of South Texas Scholarship (Click here to access) – Special consideration will be given to family members of individuals with special needs and individuals that plan on a career in medicine, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, teaching, special education and like fields.  Additionally, consideration will be given to individuals that have volunteered their time for the benefit of the special needs community.  The submission deadline is Friday, March 18.  The postmark on the envelope will be conclusive proof of timely submission.  Applications should be mailed to: DSFSTX, Attn: Scholarship Committee, P.O. Due March 19, 2019:

The Mitte Foundation Scholarship (Click here to access the link) – This scholarship is for students in Fayette and surrounding counties. Students must have a GPA of 3.0, show financial need, and plan to enroll in a full time undergraduate study at an accredited two year or four year college.

 

Due March 22, 2019:

Austin Petroleum Institute – American Chalk Chapter Scholarship (Click here to access) – Students must be majoring in a petroleum related field OR be the son or daughter of an API member. See application for details.

 

Due March 29, 2019:
 
The Rotary Club of Flatonia “Service Above Self” Merit Scholarship (Click here to access) – The application says it due to the counselor by noon on March 30th, but that is a Saturday.  It must be turned in to the counselor by NOON on March 29th!  Please read packet thoroughly.  3 letters or recommendation and transcript required.

Texas Telephone Association Foundation Scholarship – Click here for information and to fill out this brief application. Preferences given to students seeking majors in math, education, business, technology, engineering and computer science.

Don’t Mess with Texas Scholarship (Click here to access) – The 2019 Don’t mess with Texas® Scholarship, in partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful, recognizes the achievements of high school seniors who have taken a leadership role to prevent litter in their school and/or community. Any Texas high school senior planning to pursue a two- or four-year degree at an accredited Texas college or university next year and currently attending public, private, or home school in Texas may apply. One $6,000 scholarship and two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded this May.

 

Due March 31, 2019:

Pocket Nurse Scholarship (Click here to apply) – The Pocket Nurse Scholarship Fund was created at The Pittsburgh Foundation by Pocket Nurse, a nurse owned and operated company, to assist qualified applicants to pursue their education in the fields of Allied Health, Nursing, and Nursing Faculty.  Complete application online including the essay section.  Two letters of reference and unofficial high school transcript are required.  

 

Due April 1, 2019:

Carl W. Johnson Challenge Award – Use the general application for this scholarship. Include two letters of recommendation and a transcript. Must be received by April 1, 2019 and mail to: Robert W. Johnson, Carl W. Johnson Challenge Award, 7311 Sound Drive, Emerald Isle, NC  28594.

Catholic Daughters – Sacred Heart Flatonia Branch (Click here to access) – Turn in to counselor by NOON. No need to submit transcript or letters of recommendation.

Fayette County Go Texan Local Scholarship (Click here to access application & procedures) – This scholarship is for seniors who have a minimum of 2 years in 4-H or FFA during high school, rank in top 50% of class, and plan to enroll in a college, university or post-secondary institution in Fall 2019. See attached procedures for more. Applications are due to David Urban ON or BEFORE April 1, 2019. Applications must be delivered or mailed to David Urban Bookkeeping, PO Box 217, Flatonia, TX 78941. 

Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative Scholarship (Click here for cover sheet & click here for application) They will award $5,000 scholarships to qualified students who otherwise might not have the means to attend college and pursue his or her educational goals.  Applications must be received by April 1, 2019.  Mail completed applications to Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative, Attn: Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 13, La Grange, Texas 78945.

Emily Jean Fritsch Memorial Scholarship (Click here to access) – Please turn in to the counselors office by NOON on Monday, April 1st. Print the application and fill out.  Student must be involved in 4H or FFA, participate in athletics, be involved in community and church events, and be academically successful.

Fayette Extension Education Association Nettie Mae Freudenberg Scholarship (Click here to access details and here to access application) – This is a $1,000 scholarship for students in Fayette County who have a sound academic background, exhibit leadership qualities, demonstrate financial need, are of good character, and have participated in school and/or community activities. Preference will be given to students who participated in 4-H, but 4-H membership is not required.  Please be sure to mail early so the scholarship is RECEIVED by the deadline. Send to Fayette County Extension Office, 255 Svoboda Lane, Suite 134, La Grange, TX 78945.

Texas Rural Education Association Scholarship (Click here for details and application) – Student must be from a Texas School District with a current TREA District Membership.  Student must be present at the TREA 2019 Summer Conference Opening Banquet on Friday, June 21, 2019 to receive award presentation. Student will forfeit scholarship award if not in attendance.  Student will provide to TREA, college enrollment verification no later than September 30, 2019 in order to receive check.**Only future teachers will be eligible for the Sue Adams Teacher Scholarship.**  Must be completed online by April 1, 2019.

Fayette County Fair Scholarship (Click here to access) – All students are encouraged to apply for this scholarship, but priority will be given to those who have participated in the fair in some way.  Please note that letters of recommendation and a transcript are required. This application is due to the counselor’s office by April 1, 2019 at NOON!

Wendy’s High School Heisman, Phase 1 (Click here to access) – Requirements are student must have at least a B average, participate in at least one school-sponsored event, provide leadership in the community and serve as a role model in school.

Texas Farm Credit Scholarship Programs (Click here to acces) – Texas Farm Credit will recognize one student each month (January through April 2018) at each of their 20 branch locations. Students must be a member of FFA or 4H and be a graduating senior. Winners receive a $100 gift card and are then eligible for the Marsha Martin Scholarship Program. Five scholarships will be awarded for $2,000 each for graduating seniors involved in FFA or 4H and are pursuing a college degree in an agriculture-related field of study. Texas 4-H Youth Development Program Opportunity Scholarship (Click here to access guidelines) – Academic scholarships awarded each year to applicants based on their academic record, 4-H experience, and financial need (for scholarships for which it is a required criterion). The Texas 4-H Youth Development Opportunity Scholarship Program is conducted by the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation. We the Students Essay Competition Scholarship (Click here to access) – gives high-school students from across the U.S. a chance to share their perspectives on a trending topic.  This year, they’re asking students to consider what role the government should play in monitoring internet content and are awarding $20,000+ in scholarship and prizes to the winning essayists, including:

  • 1st Place – $5,000 and a scholarship to our 2018 Constitutional Academy in Washington, D.C.
  • Runners Up – Six prizes at $1,250 each.
  • Honorable Mentions – Eight prizes at $500 each.

State of Texas Farm Bureau Scholarships (Click here to access website) – Students can apply for one to four scholarships offered: S.M. True, Jr. Agricultural Scholar Award, Dick Mitchell Memorial Scholarship, Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarship, and the District Scholarship. All applications are at the above web page and must be postmarked by March 1. Students with agricultural experiences are strongly encouraged to apply!

Fayette County Texas A&M University Scholarship (Click here to access) – Applicants should be strong academically, exhibit leadership qualities, demonstrate financial need, be of good character, and have participated in school and/or community activities. Please note: Please print the A&M cover page. The first five pages of the actual application are just like the general application. You may print the general application and then print part 6: certification of this application.  Transcript is required.  Applications must be received or postmarked no later than March 1, 2018.  Mail completed application to Tim Pylant, P.O. Vietnam Veteran’s Don Carlos Kennedy Memorial Scholarship (Click here to access) – Applicants can be children, step-children or grandchildren of veterans of the Vietnam War who plan to attend a fully accredited Texas college or university. Please read “high school seniors” section carefully. See last page for mailing directions.

Fayette Electric Coop Scholarship (Click here to access) – Students must reside full-time in home within FEC service area, maintain an active FEC account, and have applied for admission as a full-time student at a state university, junior college or technical school. Please note: the scholarship must be received by 5 p.m. on the due date and requires a signed and notarized affidavit. Please read the application procedures on page two carefully and utilize the checklist on page nine.

Colorady Valley Independent Cattlemen’s Association Scholarship – Two academic scholarships will be offered (click here for academic application) and two technical scholarships will be offered (click here for technical). Please note that everything must be typed except the self appraisal and signature. The application requires a transcript and a copy of SAT/ACT scores if you are attending an academic college. Please indicate if your technical/vocational school does not require these scores. IMPORTANT: Completed applications should be sent to Anna Karisch/CVICA Scholarship Chairman @ 2216 FM 153, LaGrange, Texas 78945 on or before March 5, 2018.  No applications will be accepted after the due date.

Due March 7, 2018:

The GVTC Foundation Ola Armstrong and Ritchie T. Sorrells Scholarships (Click here to access) – These two $20,000 scholarships are for students who live in the GVTC area and subscribe to at least one GVTC service. If this applies to you, please click on the link and complete one or both scholarship applications.

Due March 9, 2018:

Participation in Lions club activities is highly desirable. Don’t Mess with Texas Scholarship (Click here to access) – The 2018 Don’t mess with Texas® Scholarship, in partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful, recognizes the achievements of high school seniors who have taken a leadership role to prevent litter in their school and/or community. Any Texas high school senior planning to pursue a two- or four-year degree at an accredited Texas college or university next year and currently attending public, private, or home school in Texas may apply. One $6,000 scholarship and two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded this May.
