Public Information Request

Texas Public Information Act (TPIA) Request Procedures:


Requests for public information (formerly known as open records requests) are handled in accordance with the Texas Public Information Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 552 and Flatonia Independent School District Board Policy GBAA (LEGAL):

Procedure for making a request:  All requests must be in writing for records or information already in existence.  The TPIA does not require the District to create information, do legal research or answer questions.  Requests must be specific for the records or information requested.  If the District cannot produce the information within ten business days after the date the information is requested, the District will notify requester of a reasonable time when the information will be available.


Charges to Requestor:  The District will assess fees for compiling information requested pursuant to board policy GBAA (EXHIBIT).  If charges should occur, the District will send an itemized estimate and ask for a response in writing and/or prepayment within ten business days, verifying that the requestor accepts, modifies or denies the cost being charged.
